Brand Story Kuju Distillery’s Signature Bottle

Green Dram

Currently the only standard expression from Kuju Distillery, “Green Dram” was created to evoke the sweeping beauty of the grasslands that stretch across the Kuju Highlands. This blended malt offers delicate notes reminiscent of green fruits and herbs, balanced by a rich, oily mouthfeel. All imported malts used in the blend undergo additional maturation through re-casking, after which only carefully selected barrels are chosen. These are then blended with original malt spirit produced at Kuju Distillery.

A Tribute and a Hope for the Future

The name “Green” reflects both the grandeur of Kuju’s grasslands and a deep respect for the generations who have protected this landscape for over a thousand years. It also embodies hope for the future. “Dram” originates from the ancient Greek word drachme, which made its way to Britain and came to represent a “small pour of whisky” in Scotland—a word that captures the joy of sharing a dram with loved ones on a cold evening. This name symbolizes Kuju Distillery’s commitment to continue crafting whisky with sincerity, honoring the past while looking ahead.

A “Dram” to Enrich Your Everyday Life

The term “dram” is said to have begun referring to whisky in 18th-century Scotland. Derived from the ancient Greek drachme, it passed through Britain and took root in Scotland as a word for “a little whisky”—a small pour that brought warmth and connection during quiet moments with friends and family. Even today, “dram” remains a symbol of life’s small, comforting pleasures—an everyday luxury that enriches our lives in simple, meaningful ways.
